Many outstanding Oakland nonprofit groups work to address many of the problems we’ve listed here, including housing, job training and transportation. Uber and Uber executives need to commit philanthropic dollars to help support these vital community groups as well as local arts organizations — all of whom are squeezed by soaring rents due to Uber’s arrival.
